How to Apply for a Mozambique Visa?

Citizens of the following countries need to apply for a visa before entering Mozambique:

  • Bangladesh
  • Eritrea
  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Somalia
  • Sri Lanka
 Applicants of the following countries can apply for a visa on arrival if they hold a letter of confirmation from the Immigration Authority (SENAMI) Headquarters in Maputo, approving that the visa has been granted before travelling to Mozambique, for the Rovuma Basin Project.

However, there are two options on how to apply for a Mozambique visa:

  • At the port of entry.
  • At the embassy or consulate of Mozambique.

At the Port of Entry

A visa on arrival is issued to everyone who is not exempt from a visa’s requirements unless otherwise required. A visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the issuance date and is issued at Maputo International Airport.

Applicants who want to apply for a visa on arrival must submit the following documents:

  • A passport valid for six months after the return date.
  • A return or ongoing flight ticket.
  • An accommodation proof (a printed copy).
  • A letter of invitation issued from a friend or a family member.

The applicants must finish the payment of $50 for their visa application. The payment can be done in cash or by credit card.

At the Embassy or Consulate of Mozambique

Applicants who need to apply for a Mozambique visa before entering the country must follow these steps:

  • Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Mozambique in your home country and book a visa appointment.
  • Fill out the Mozambique visa application form and sign it at the end. Do not leave blank spaces.
  • Gather the required documents.
  • Submit the required documents to the embassy or consulate of Mozambique.
  • Finish the applicable visa application fee payment and attach the receipt to your application form.
  • Wait until you receive a response from the embassy or consulate with your visa application result.

  • A copy document of your accommodation proof.
