Is Chad a Safe Place to Visit?

Chad is a country that has faced many challenges throughout the years of being a very unstable country. The country has been unstable since its independence in 1960, making it very dangerous for those who live there for many reasons, such as terrorism, violent crime, armed conflict, kidnapping, muggings, etc. Due to these reasons, not many people visit the country.

Therefore, foreigners who want to visit Chad but are not from the countries listed above need to apply for a visa to enter the country.

How to Apply for a Chad Visa?

There are two options on how you can apply for a Chad Vis:

  • Apply to the embassy or consulate of Chad.
  • Apply at the port of entry.

Apply to the Embassy or Consulate of Chad

To apply for a Chad visa at the embassy or consulate of Chad,  follow these steps:

  1. Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Chad in your home country and book a visa appointment.
  2. Fill out the Chad visa application form.
  3. Gather the required documents and submit them to the embassy or consulate of Chad.
  4. Wait for a response from the embassy or consulate with your visa result.

Apply at the Port of Entry

A visa on arrival is issued only to foreign nationals with an authorisation letter from the Chad embassy and a health declaration. Therefore, only Benin citizens can obtain a visa on arrival without an authorisation letter from the embassy of Chad.

Chad Visa Requirements

To apply for a Chad visa, submit the following documents:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months after the return date.
  • A fully completed and signed Chad application form.
  • Two passport-size photographs with colors.
  • Proof of a Booked Round-Trip Ticket Reservation.
  • A cover letter. A personal cover letter explaining your reason why you wish to visit Chad, and what you will be doing there.
  • An accommodation proof for your stay in Chad.
  • A letter of invitation from a friend or relative.
  • An International Certificate of vaccination for yellow fever (if applicable).

Note: Any missing document can lead to your visa refusal. However, the embassy of Chad can request other additional documents, so make sure you contact the embassy before submitting the documents.

Duration of a Chad Visa

The duration of a Chad visa is from one to six months. However, the duration of a chad visa depends on the type of visa you are applying for.
